David had a great idea this year to attempt to design and 3d print some plaques to use on some tombstones. One of the longest, most tedious aspects of making tombstones is carving the name / epitaph.
While we would not want to use these for every new stone, adding some variety certainly makes things more interesting.
The plaques are printed in black PETG, then given a base coat of hammered finish spray paint.

Once the base coat is dry, John goes to work with some metallic color paint in the layers, then dry brushes on some greens to give it a weathered look.

Finally, they get coated with a matte finish clear coat spray paint.
The “problem” with creating these plaques is we don’t have stones to put them on yet. 🙂 That means it’s fine to create some quick new tombstones.
